- Abstract:The assessment of river health under the background of urbanization is a hot research topic. In view of the deteriorating river health of urbanized area, nine eco-hydrological indicators of the five elements were selected to establish an evaluation system, and the entropy weight and matter element model was also adopted to quantify the river health and analyze its dynamic trend at different stages of urbanization. By analyzing the comprehensive correlation degree of river health of Huzhou city in 1991, 2001 and 2006, we found that river health status of the study area was in the direction of pathological trend, and the impact of limiting factors (such as coefficient of river network development rate, percentage of greenery coverage and agroforestry output growth rate et al.) played an important role in river health. The result also showed the entropy weight and matter element model provided a new evaluation method for the river health in the plain river network area, which was more effective to overcome the subjectivity of weight decision, the fuzziness of river health concept, as well as the incompatibility issues among each index than the multi-index comprehensive evaluation method.
